Stratford District Secondary School (Stratford)
Introduction
Stratford District Secondary School is the largest Avon Maitland High School. The school is for grades 9-12 school located in the city of Stratford with an enrollment of approximately 1400 students. Stratford Secondary has an excellent academic program and offers a wide variety of courses in many exciting disciplines. One can find exceptional courses in numerous Academic areas, the Arts (Visual Arts, Dance, Dramatic Arts, Music, Media Arts, and Vocal Music), French, Latin, French Immersion, Green Industries, and Social Sciences.
There is a strong Technology Department at the school with courses in both trades-based technology courses (Construction, Manufacturing, Automotive, Hairstyling & Aesthetics, Welding) and computer-based technology courses (Computer Engineering/Robotics, Technological Design, Communications Technology, Animation, TV Video). SDSS also runs a nationally acclaimed Culinary Arts program. This program features the student operated Screaming Avocado Cafe which has been featured in a television reality series and highlighted in many national and international publications.
